One of the most beautiful sims in all of Second Life New England is Truro. Of course, I am slightly biased, since I owned this sim for quite awhile. My good friend and the current owner of Truro, Laird Townsend has enlisted the help of master landscaper Xander Ruttan to turn this sim into a breathtaking, natural wonderland.
Come along with me and let me give you a brief tour of this wonderful sim.
A peaceful meadow and a good place to begin the tour of Truro. |
A breathtaking waterfall and pool...you can feel the spray and hear the rushing water. |
A blue heron looking for his morning breakfast. |
Let's walk over and look at the residence...this is a converted boathouse. Isn't it charming? |
Beside the house is a very inviting garden. I love the pergola entrance and low brick wall. |
Don't try to enter the house...or you will be attacked by the two cats! |
There is a profusion of beautiful flowers on the hillside. The colors are outstanding! |
A peaceful marsh makes for a nice place to stand and listen...and comtemplate. |
Look closely and you will see a tree with hanging moss over this pond. Another waterfall is off on the right side. |
The Truro boathouse in the glow of sunrise. |

So looking forward to revisiting SLNE Truro ! Was sailing by a few weeks ago and had a look around and found Truro quite beautiful. I was not aware that Xander Ruttan was involved in creating the beauty there. I have had the pleasure of meeting him once while passing by his home south of New England at Punta Diego. He is very talented and looking forward to exploring this area now that it is completed. Will be vacationing in RL Truro Cape Cod Massachusetts in September…. Such a beautiful and peaceful place…. It rejuvenates the soul. Thank you for sharing this!
Lovely Jeanne! And well written too! If I had not visited it already, I would go thanks your account... More than likely I will return... I love such peaceful sims, they are good for the soul!
Sophia
Chad and Sophia...Thank you so much for your thought about Truro. It certainly is a beautiful sim. Chad, I spent some time observing Xander at work. He was very generous in allowing me to see what he was doing. I have used some of his techniques on Schimmerland and Brewster. I have learned so much from Xander, he has an amazing talent.
Jeanne, so perfect. I've seen that very sign, "Entering Truro", many times as there are really only a few (Truro being the narrow strip of land that it is.) Your blog nicely captures the experience of passing that boundary and on unto some of the very unique and ideally framed localities within the town. Xander has done well to replicate this experience, and Ive seen some of your own work, and believe it has an equivalent power to convey a special peace and harmony.
